Patrick Kane reveals why he chose the Blackhawks.

The Patrick Kane era in Chicago has begun... again.

Earlier this week Kane made it official when the veteran National Hockey League forward and the Chicago Blackhawks announced that they had reached terms on a 2 year deal that will carry an average annual value and salary cap hit of $8 million per season.

With that move Kane officially left the Detroit Red Wings organization, no doubt a difficult decision given the comments he made about some of his teammates, and in his message to Chicago he explained why he came to that decision.

From Kane's words it was clear that he still holds the Blackhawks franchise near and dear to his heart and with so much of his NHL legacy wrapped up within that franchise that should come as no surprise. Kane expressed his joy at returning to the city, and the United Center, and seemed genuinely excited to get the season under way.

What a time! To say I get to be a Blackhawk again is an amazing feeling. Thank you to Danny Wirtz, Kyle Davidson and Jeff Blashill in your belief to bring me back. I chose to come back because of the talent here and to be a part of helping this iconic franchise get back to the next level and also to try and help the team win. The love, passion and energy I've felt from the fans has been unparalleled, even when I was not always wearing the Blackhawks sweater.

There's nothing like the city of Chicago and home games in the UC. I cannot wait to pull the home red jersey on, hear that anthem, and play in front of you again. Let's go!!
