He's the newest Red Wings player in town, but when will he debut?
The Detroit Red Wings made a significant acquisition by signing former Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane to a one-year contract today worth $2.75 million. However, fans who are anticipating to see Kane's Red Wings debut come against his former teams—the New York Rangers and Blackhawks—will need to exercise some patience as they await his first appearance in a Red Wings jersey.
According to The Athletic's Chris Johnston, who was the first to break the news this morning of Kane signing with Detroit, he isn't likely to make his debut quite yet - but could hit the ice with his new teammates as early as next week.
When Kane does debut with the Red Wings, he'll be wearing his familiar No. 88, which was initially worn by forward Daniel Sprong this season. The latter has indicated that he's happy to surrender the number for the 3-time Stanley Cup winner, and will be choosing a new sweater number.
