We are on the verge of a blockbuster trade.
Fans have been waiting for months to find out what will happen with Chicago Blackhawks superstar forward Patrick Kane ahead of the National Hockey League's trade deadline on March 3rd, and it sounds like we may soon have our answer.
Things appeared to be seriously heating up on the Patrick Kane front on Saturday and the latest comments from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman may be enough to make the whole thing explode. Friedman is now reporting that we are getting very close to a Kane trade with seemingly everyone now dotting their i's and crossing their t's.
From Friedman:
On Kane/NYR: last 24 hours or so has been about lining up everything from cap situation to third-party trade partners to roster machinations to Kane’s approval. Making sure everything in place; no detail is missed. We’re grinding towards a conclusion, no one wants a misstep.
It sounds like the Rangers may be the only team in the running here, so we aren't likely to see another team swoop in at the final hour with a huge offer for Kane's services. In fact just earlier today it was reported that Kane is only open to being traded to the Rangers, something that may have forced the Blackhawks hand.
Perhaps this is merely coincidence, but the Rangers have also scratched Vitali Kravtsov and Jake Leschyshyn for "roster management reasons"
