Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane has tallied seven goals in the past four outings, basically shoving it to anyone who has questioned his game and his nagging hip.

While the forward reportedly still mulls over his future, NYI Hockey Now learned on Thursday evening that “not only do the New York Rangers still have interest in Kane despite their salary cap situation, under $1 million in projected deadline cap space, but that Kane to the Rangers is happening as a deal is being hammered out.”

The source reports that “Rangers prospects Vitali Kravtsov and Zachary Jones are involved in the deal with picks going to a third team to help deal with the financial burden of Kane’s $10.5 million cap hit (Up to 50 percent retained by Chicago).”

Both Kravtsov and Jake Leschyshyn were out of the lineup on Thursday for the game against the Detroit Red Wings. They said it was for “roster management reasons”. The Rangers have been all over trade rumors this season and have made a couple significant trades in acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko and Tyler Motte, but the rumors about them acquiring Kane persist.

This latest report surely gets our attention focused on the Rangers making about monster trade ahead of March 3rd, though Chris Johnston revealed on last night’s Insider Trading that Kane was set to meet with his agent to go over his options.

“The Chicago Blackhawks are in San Jose this weekend where it is expected that Patrick Kane will have some face-to-face time with his California-based agent Pat Brisson and any day now we expect some clarity. In the meantime everyone is waiting, that includes Chicago, that includes perhaps the New York Rangers, the Edmonton Oilers, who are keeping tabs just in case, maybe the Dallas Stars. Everyone is waiting to find out what one of the hottest scorers in hockey wants to do.”

The 2023 NHL Trade Deadline is just seven days away and with Kane dreaming of a trade out to NYC, it surely feels like it will come true soon enough.
