Patrick Roy at the center of huge saga in QMJHL
Serious allegations by the former NHL goalie / coach

Former NHL goalie and head coach Patrick Roy has experienced his share of controversial incidents, and despite now being a bench boss for the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL, he is once again at the center of a saga.
According to Journal de Quebec, which was then shared by TSN’s Rick Westhead, Roy reportedly alleges Shawinigan Cataractes head coach Daniel Renaud directed his players to intentionally injure Remparts players and said text messages prove it.
When Roy reported to QMJHL, he claims that he was made to feel culpable.
On Wednesday, things heated up between the Remparts and Cataractes in the third period. Roy alleges that he heard Renaud tell his players to slash harder and injure the Remparts players, which led the Quebec head coach to tell reporters he hopes that the league investigates.
He claims that some of his players also heard the rival commands and that following the game, one Cataractes player send a text message to a Remparts player that corroborates Roy’s accusations.
But despite his efforts to “protect” his players, Roy claims that the league did not welcome his complaints.
“I called the League this morning and I felt like I was being treated more like a culprit than someone who wanted to report a situation. I imagine it must be difficult for any player who is the victim of something to speak out,” (from French), said Roy, hinting at the ongoing issues with hazing in junior hockey.
Roy acknowledges that there is a rivalry between the two teams, especially since Shawinigan eliminated Quebec in the postseason last summer, but he maintains that it has nothing to do with it and that he only looks to protect his players.
Maybe if Roy wasn’t such a hot head, he would get more credibility and help from the league.
