Fiery goaltender turned fiery bench boss Patrick Roy was back up to his old tricks last night, getting into a "heated argument" with an official during a QMJHL preseason game. Roy, who is head coach and general manager of his hometown Quebec Remparts, was ejected from an exhibition game against the Shawinigan Cataractes for reportedly going over the line with the referee. According to Yahoo! Sports, Roy and this official have some history stemming from last season's QMJHL playoffs and Roy took things too far this time around.

“As I told my players, I don't feel I'm getting the same treatment as other coaches around the league,” Roy told Yahoo! Sports. “That's why I try to do as little talking as possible during games. I thought it was funny that the league put us against Shawinigan in an exhibition game. They were tactless."

Roy, of course, is known for his temper both as a player and a coach. Arguably the greatest goaltender in NHL history, Roy played the position with a swagger like few before or since. He was absolutely dominant in his prime and was perhaps the fiercest competitor to ever strap on the pads in the NHL. As a head coach he has displayed much of the same emotion, but admits that he has tried to dial things back in recent years.

"Maybe I'm the one who's going to have to do a mea culpa, look in the mirror and find a way to digest it,” Roy said. “It was fine up to that point, but when I saw them on the ice, I had a hard time understanding. Maybe I didn't have the right attitude when I left, maybe I should have put it aside, but that's not the type of person I am.

"In my good years, the stick rack would have been flying back. Today I'm trying to stay calmer. I'll have to get over it. Maybe it will have done some good, what happened tonight."

It's unclear whether or not Roy will face any supplemental discipline or not. The QMJHL has yet to comment on any sort of punishment.
