Paul Maurice explains argument with Rod Brind'Amour in last night's handshake line

The two coaches nearly go in each others faces!

In case you missed it last night, Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice and Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour had an animated exchange with each other during the handshake line following Game 5.

The two coaches appeared to have a disagreement while shaking hands, check it out:

During post-game interviews Maurice explained that he doesn't believe in joining the players' handshake line and that the line should be reserved for players only. Brind'Amour, understandably so, didn't agree with Maurice.

Look, I'm a big Paul Maurice fan but... this is a load of crap.

Man up, look your opponent in the eye and shake hands. It's not difficult to do and it's the right way to show respect for your opponent. This is a lot of nonsense from Maurice, in my opinion.

The Florida Panthers went on to beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 Wednesday nigt to earn a series victory in five games, reaching the Stanley Cup Final for a third consecutive season.

When the final buzzer went on, the Panthers celebrated on the ice and it was time for the traditional handshake. The coaches got out of the respective benches but when Panthers’ Paul Maurice went over to shake Canes bench boss Rod Brind’Amour’s hand, it was quickly noticed that an altercation was taking place.

The two men shared some words during the handshake, clearly disagreeing on something. The chat lasted for much longer than even the cameraman expected with commentators wondering what was happening.

I would love to know what Maurice and Brind’Amour discussed during that handshake… Wonder if either head coach will bite on what was said between them.

Florida advances to the third consecutive Stanley Cup Final - they were defeated in five games by the Vegas Golden Knights two years ago before earning the title a year ago in seven games against the Edmonton Oilers . The Cats now await the winner of the Western Conference Final between the Oilers and the Dallas Stars.
