Pearson's head shot earns him a suspension for preseason & regular season games.

The National Hockey League has handed out a significant suspension to Tanner Pearson for his head shot during the preseason.

The Kings forward was assessed a match penalty on Sunday night when he delivered a nasty hit to the head of Edmonton Oilers defenseman Brandon Davidson, leaving the Oiler motionless on the ice for several moments.

Pearson attempted to defend his actions as unintentional on this play, but when viewed in slow motion and with the benefit of multiple angles it certainly makes that claim dubious as best.

Considering he had no previous offenses during his NHL career, Pearson was given a relatively stiff penalty, a suspension from the first two regular season games and the remainder of the preseason.

Here's a break down of the NHL's decision.
