Penguins fan pleas for holiday miracle to save her father.

This is the part of the year in which miracles are meant to happen and one young lady is hoping and praying that fans around the hockey world will be able to make her Christmas wish a reality.

Last week when the Pittsburgh Penguins faced off against the Minnesota Wild a young Penguins fan came to the game with a very special sign in hand. The young woman, Ashley Pritchard was holding a sing in which she asked Santa to bring her father a new kidney, Ashley was photographed alongside her father David Pritchard who reportedly needs a kidney to save his life. The sign included his phone number in the hopes that some kind and generous souls would reach out to her and help her family in their time of need.

We don't know if Ashley and her father have found a new kidney for him at the time of this writing, but it sounds like there is a lot of promise in the future for them based solely on the response her sign produced for her father.

"We're just astonished," Ashley Pritchard told NHL.com. "My dad said 'I can't believe there are so many people who don't even know us who want to help us find a kidney for me.'"

According to a report form the Penguins official website, David is a very positive person by nature but even he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support generated by the sign his daughter made.

"I just can't believe that people who don't know me are willing to come forward to donate," David told NHL.com. "Never in a million years would I guess that this would've exploded like this.

"Just to know that there are good people out there willing to do things like this is amazing."

It would be one hell of a Christmas miracle if the Pritchard family got their kidney for David and hopefully thanks to wonderful organizations like the Pittsburgh Penguins signal boosting something like this it will get out to people who can most provide help to David in this situation. There are no doubt other families out there hoping for Christmas miracles as well so do try and think of your fellow man this holiday season.
