Jarry finally out!? Pens fans are celebrating in the streets!
This just in, injuries to goaltender Tristan Jarry and forwards Noel Acciari and Justin Brazeau have forced the Pittsburgh Penguins to make some roster changes today.
Jarry, Acciari and Brazeau have all been placed on injured reserve, while forward Danton Heinen, defenseman Ryan Graves and goaltender Sergei Murashov have been recalled from the AHL. Additionally, defenseman Owen Pickering has been assigned to the AHL.
Check it out:
The big news here obviously is that Jarry is out of the lineup, giving the 21 year old Murashov a chance to make his NHL debut. The former 4th round pick (118th overall in 2022) was recently named AHL Goaltender of the Month and has a stellar 1.73 GAA and .931 save percentage in seven games with the WSB Penguins to start the campaign.
Jarry, to be fair, has also had a good start to his season with the NHL's Penguins. He has five wins in seven starts and a stellar 2.60 GAA and .911 save percentage. Jarry has split the season equally with newcomer Arturs Silovs, who is now expected to take over the starting role full-time in Jarry's absence.
But, while Jarry's performance has been adequate so far this season he still has his fair share of haters in the Penguins' fanbase. He has struggled in recent seasons and his five years, $27 million deal makes him a target for haters. He carries a $5.375 million cap hit per season and has struggled to earn his keep in recent seasons, here's hoping that his injury doesn't derail what could be an excellent season in 2025-26.
