To put it nicely, things are not going well right now for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following last night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena, they dropped to 11-11-3, good for 7th overall in the Metropolitan Division.
What’s more, their power play continues its maddening struggle, having now failed to convert on their last 34 opportunities. Pittsburgh wasn’t able to take advantage of four power play opportunities against the Lightning, including a near full minute of a 5 on 3.
Following the game, the team reportedly held a closed-door meeting:
Something needs to snap the Penguins out of their current funk, because it’s just not going right at the present time.
