Penguins make room on the roster!

This could mean Crosby returns on Friday…

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Jospeh Blandisi on waivers on Wednesday.

The move takes place as the Penguins are clearing the way for the 25-year-old to eventually be reassigned to the minors, which would free up a roster spot to activated a certain Sidney Crosby off injured reserve.

It is possible that this roster move is just a precursor, which means Blandisi’s demotion to the minors will likely depend on Crosby’s (groin) availability against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.

Crosby, who had sports hernia surgery Nov. 14, has been practicing with the team and traveled with the Penguins to Vegas last night, though he did not suit up for the game.

It remains to be seen if Crosby will be back on ice Friday as he keeps working on drills to be ready for action.
