Penguins support female high school goalie who was vulgarly taunted at game

It was just disturbing news last week when a video from Pennsylvania was shown on social media, in which you can hear high school players chanting at the opposite goalie has started trending. That’s because the players were skating on the ice, taunting the goalie, who is a high school girl with the most disgusting chants you can hear. The poor girl from Mars Hockey Club had to wait in her crease as she heard her rivals chanting “she’s a whore” and “suck our dicks” over and over…

The arena was full of supporters and none of them did something about it. Not even the referees, who should have stopped the game, give her the shutout and rubbed it in those dicks’ faces.

The Pittsburgh Penguins seemed to agree that this incident should have never taken place and that’s why they supported the young girl, who prefers to remain unanimous, by inviting her and her teammates to UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, the Pens’ practice facility, for their game against South Fayette.

“I’m extremely proud of the stance our whole organization has taken, our players have taken, to reach out and try to make a difference,” said Penguins assistant Todd Reirden. “It’s sad that the whole situation had to occur. … This type of behavior is not appropriate at any time, let alone at a hockey rink.”

The game was officiated by two female referees. Several Penguins players have sent the girl video messages of support. The Penguins also invited the team from Mars Area High School, which is located about six miles from Pittsburgh’s practice rink in Cranberry, to their 5-4 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday. The players were seated in a luxury suite and recognized on the big screen.

This should never have taken place and we hope this young girl can put this terrible incident behind her.
