It is no secret around the National Hockey League: Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is said to be one of the most superstitious player in the circuit. However, the star player refuses to talk about his superstitions because it would bring him bad luck…

Right…

There are many examples of the superstitions impacting the entire team. There are rumors that back in 2009, when the Penguins won the Stanley Cup against the Detroit Red Wings, the team changed hotels in Hockey Town from the previous year, when the Wings managed to beat the Penguins for the championship.

This season, it seems like another superstition has affected the entire roster. Penguins head equipment manager Dana Heinze has revealed that the team is getting rid of their Stadium Series uniforms and equipment. Pittsburgh did not manage to win one game while sporting these uniforms.

He posted this on social media:

Who knows, the jerseys might have add a bad spell on them even before the Penguins wore them for the actual series back on Feb, 23rd.

Both of the Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers jerseys were out on sale at a Toronto-area shop before the official announcement. One employee had mistakenly posted a picture of the uniforms on social media and it didn’t take long for fans to see it and comment on its look.

Maybe it’s the same superstition of a bride’s dress - you can’t see it before the big day.

Many fans will be happy about the Penguins' decision: the jerseys had gotten a lot of negative comments since they've been out.
