Someone in Pittsburgh had to stand up for Penguins forward Adam Johnson since none of the officials were going to do so…

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer laid a very questionable hit Johnson on Thursday night, but no penalty was given on the play.

Johnson was slow to get back up and went down the Penguins’ tunnel with a trainer after the hit.

His teammate Teddy Blueger couldn’t stand to see Johnson mistreated this way and stepped in, dropping the gloves with Holzer after the hit.

Once he skated over to the penalty box for serving his five-minute major for fighting, Blueger received a two-minute minor for instigating, and a 10-minute misconduct.

You can tell in the video that Blueger is surprised to get the additional misconduct as he looked at the referee stunned. He left the ice much to the dismay of many fans in the arena and on social media.

We can all understand why Blueger wanted to defend his teammate after the hit, and we feel bad that he landed a misconduct, seeing that Holzer got many brutal shots into their fight…

This was Blueger’s second NHL career fight. Before last night’s game, he had compiled 15 minutes of penalty in his whole career… he managed to get 17 in just one period on Thursday night!
