Ottawa Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf wasn't very happy about this sequence and it's hard to blame him.

Things got a little rough during the Wednesday night game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators, and during a scrum in front of the net Phaneuf was the victim of a sucker punch from Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green.

While it seems fair to say that Phaneuf was certainly asking for it by giving Green some shots of his own just prior to the punch, when Green threw the punch Phaneuf was being held by one of the National Hockey League officials on the ice.

And just in case you had any doubts about whether or not the punch landed, Phaneuf could be seen bleeding from the bridge of his nose while he sat angry in the penalty box.
