The National Hockey League is rapidly closing in on the expansion draft for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and as expected insiders are now trying to project the list of players that will be protected by each NHL team.

Philadelphia Flyers' insider Sam Carchidi believes the organization will use the option to protect seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender, and he feels that the majority of the players set to be on that list are locks.

From Carchidi:

In that scenario, here are the no-brainers they will protect: forwards Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, Jake Voracek, Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier and Valtteri Filppula; and defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Radko Gudas.

While Carchidi is less certain about the two remainign skaters on the list, he believes that forward Jordan Weal is likely to be re-signed, resulting in him being protected, and furthermore believes defenseman Brandon Manning will be the final defenseman on the list.

The goaltending situation appears to also be up in the air, although most seem to believe that the Flyers will eventually settle on protecting Anthony Stolarz, exposing Michal Neuvirth in the process.
