As sports fans each and every one of us has our opinions on who the greatest athletes in the world are, but finding a consensus among all those fans is just about impossible. As a result debates about the greatest athletes of all time usually center around a specific sport, but every once in a while those lines do get crossed.

A recent example of this was a debate surrounding the incredible record established by National Hockey League superstar Alex Ovechkin last season, with Ovechkin breaking the NHL's all-time goal scoring record previously held by Wayne Gretzky. Some fans and pundits tried to argue that the all-time scoring record of National Basketball Association star LeBron James was even more impressive, but former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban was hearing none of it.

"Alex Ovechkin has been more durable than LeBron James over his career," said a fired up sounding Subban. "Based on the simple fact of the sport he's playing we can't compare these two. I think it's borderline insulting."

Those are some very strong words from Subban, but he was ready to back them up by comparing the intense physicality of hockey to that of basketball.

"Number one 82 games we play, same amount of games as basketball, there is no way that anybody on this planet is gonna convince me that LeBron James' body has been put through more rigorous, tumultuous, physicality, worn down, the grind of a hockey season... what are we talking about here?"

It was clear that a very fired up Subban wasn't going to be budged on this issue, with Subban firmly planting a flag for the sport of hockey with his statements.
