An NHL agent is furious after a dirty hit went uncalled by the NHL on Friday night.

A National Hockey League player agent has made a public appeal for a suspension after his client was on the receiving end of an ugly looking hit on Friday night.

On Friday night the Vancouver Canucks travelled to Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes and it would be in the third period of that game that things would turn ugly. In what were the final moments of regulation play, Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov would deliver a nasty looking hit along the boards to Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek.

Svechnikov seemed to have misjudged the timing of his hit when he closed the distance and as a result raised and stretched out his arm to ensure that he would make contact with Hronek. The plan worked but unfortunately for Hronek that would result in Svechnikov's elbow coming up and striking him in the head as Svechnikov delivered the hit, causing Hronek to go crashing to the ice after absorbing the blow.

Much to his credit, Hronek would bounce back up and did try to remain in the game but was eventually forced to head back to the Canucks locker room. Canucks head coach Adam Foote was able to confirm after the game that the NHL's concussion spotters had pulled Hronek from the game.

Unfortunately for Hronek and the Canucks there was no call on the play but the fact that Hronek was pulled from the game by a concussion spotter suggests to me that the NHL is at least aware that the incident occurred.

Needless to say Hronek's agent, Alan Walsh, was not happy with the treatment his client received.

"Here we go again!" wrote Walsh on social media. "The National Concussion League. Open season on NHL players’ brains. No call on the play. If only the referee were in a position to have a clear view of the play."

This could easily lead to a suspension for Svechnikov, and we will likely receive a definitive answer from NHL Player Safety later today.
