Things got ugly between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, and may result in additional discipline.

During Saturday's matchup between the two teams, Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh caught Flyers forward Wayne Simmons with a high stick while attempting to avoid getting hit.

The situation escalates from there, culminating with Simmonds delivering a two-handed slash and a punch McDonagh's face. McDonagh remained down for some time before being helped to the locker room.

Simmonds was assessed a match penalty and a game misconduct on the play, while McDonagh received a minor for slashing and a minor for high-sticking.

Don't be surprised if we see a fine or suspension resulting from this play, as the officials ruled Simmonds acted with intent to injure.
