He's probably going to have a headache in the morning.

This is honestly one of the more ridiculous cheap shots I've seen all year, and it could have a major impact on the Kontinental Hockey League's playoffs.

Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo forward Aleksei Potapov was injured earlier this week when he was absolutely obliterated on the ice by a move that looked like it would have fit better in a martial arts movie than a hockey game. It was CSKA Moscow's Grigory Panin who delivered the blow, although in his defense, if you can mount one, it looked like it was a panicked reaction and not a premeditated attempt to injure.

It appeared that Potapov was looking to come in and deliver a big open ice hit on Panin, but when he did Panin leaped off his feet and brought his stick up in front of him, resulting in a brutal flying crosscheck right to the head of Potapov who was rocked on the play.

To Potapov's credit he refused to leave on the stretcher, and although he needed help from his teammates he left the ice on his own two feet. As for Panin, he has received a two game ban for his actions on the play.
