Calgary and New York got it done in time
The New York Rangers have moved Brennan Othmann to the Calgary Flames in return for Jacob Battaglia.
Othmann is just 23 years old and has taken part in 17 games for the Rangers in 2025-26, recording a goal. He has eight goals and 16 points in 26 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack this year.
He is currently on the final season of his three-year, entry-level contract that carries a cap hit of $863,333. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
As for Battaglia, he is 19 and is a left-shot forward, though can be used at center.
After earning an entry-level deal at the end of the 2024-25 season, he’s struggled a bit to produce this season, split between the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs and Flint Firebirds. He has 26 goals and 43 points in 58 OHL games this season.
