It appears Patrick Marleau has wanted out of San Jose for some time now.
According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the 36-year-old forward has been looking for a trade since the beginning of training camp and is willing to waive his no-trade clause.
McKenzie says that Marleau "appears to be driving the bus" on a potential trade and has submitted a list of three teams - the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and New York Rangers - for whom he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause. Some NHL executives have speculated Chicago and Nashville could also be approved teams.
Marleau has two seasons remaining on his contract at a $6.7-million cap hit yearly. Both the Kings and Rangers have significant interest in Marleau, but his cap-hit could cause complications for both teams.
Marleau has scored four goals and nine points in 15 games this season.
He has spent his entire career with the Sharks after being drafted 2nd overall by San Jose in 1997.
