Player Safety rules on David Pastrnak's hit on Ryan Lindgren.

The National Hockey League has reportedly ruled on a hit that caused quite a bit of controversy over the weekend.

The first to break the news is veteran NHL reporter Arthur Staple, who on Sunday cited a source and reported that Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak would not face any further discipline from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Pastrnak was ejected from Saturday night's game against the New York Rangers after his hit resulted in some damage to Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren, with Lindgren busted open on the play. 

Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery expressed his displeasure with the call following the conclusion of the game and his comments were supported by criticisms from a fellow NHL player as well. The Bruins will likely agree with this ruling, while the Rangers may feel a bit more sour about it.
