Some of them might be losers, but they did get richer nonetheless…
You guys all know that players from the National Hockey League do not get paid during the playoffs (we are not asking you to feel sorry for them seeing how much they earn throughout the rest of the year). No contract money comes into their pockets during the postseason, however, they can earn bonus money and finally late on Tuesday night, we found out how much some players will get for this special playoff tournament.
NHL reporter John Shannon took to Twitter late last night to reveal the amount of money each player will get as part of their playoff run. This is what it looks like:
Oh and some nice bling on their finger and a chance to hoist the Cup while swearing and yelling on live television!
While this is a lot for money for us, we get that it has nothing to do with the amount star players usually get on their regular-season pay check. For example, even if he makes more than $10 million per campaign, Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price only made 40 000$ following his impressive battle against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers.
For an underdog, we say that’s still a pretty good reward.
We certainly wish fans could get a bonus for each game of the Stanley Cup playoffs they end up watching. Come on: it’s blood, sweat and tears for us too!
