Polak stretchered off the ice after going head first into the end boards

If you’re squeamish, look away.

Dallas Stars blueliner Roman Polak was just stretchered off the ice after colliding head first into the end boards in his team’s home opener against the Boston Bruins.

Polak was chasing Bruins forward Chris Wagner into the corner and simply took an awkward fall into the boards while attempting to stop. It truly does look like a freak accident.

UPDATE: This may be obvious but the Stars have confirmed that Polak will NOT return to tonight's contest.

UPDATE: Polak has been taken to the hospital for evaluation.
