Poll yields brutal results for Evander Kane.

They don't want him back.

The San Jose Sharks find themselves in a very uncomfortable situation and I don't envy the man or woman who is going to have to make the final call on this decision.

We are now only 8 days away from when San Jose Sharks star forward Evander Kane is eligible to return to action, following a lengthy suspension for a breach of the National Hockey League's Covid protocol. Normally you would expect that to be good news, Kane was arguably the organization's best player last season leading his team in goals, assists and points, but Kane's abrasive personality has brought that under question.

Just recently San Jose Sharks insider Kevin Kurz decided to take a poll of the Sharks' fan base to gauge how many fans were excited at the prospect of Kane's return, compared to how many were dreading the thought of it. I'll admit I fully expected the poll to contain a significant number of negative responses, but I was surprised at just how large a portion of the fan base appears to want nothing to do with him.

Keep in mind that only approximately 3,000 people voted in this pole so it is in no way a complete picture of the Sharks' fan base, but it does give you a decent sample size and the results are not good for Evander Kane.

Some of those who responded to the poll admitted that they would rather watch the Sharks lose out the rest of the season than see Kane back on the roster and, given some of the things that have been alleged as of late, I can hardly blame them.

An agent with clients on the San Jose Sharks told reporters last season that there were significant issues with Kane in the Sharks' locker room.

"That guy walks into a room and the flowers wilt," said the agent to the Boston Globe.

That was only compounded in the offseason when Evander Kane's wife, Anna Kane, went public with a host of disturbing accusations against the Sharks forward.

It seems clear the fans don't want him back, the only question that remains is what will the Sharks do roughly one week from today.
