Potential Corey Perry suspension incoming?

Tension ran super high yesterday following the 3-1 Nashville victory over the Ducks. It was expected to be an intense matchup, especially since Ryan Johansen and Mike Fisher were missing in action. However, one very peculiar sequence happened late in the third were brawls erupted all over the ice.

What can be understood as a very routine play between two rough guys emerged as a potential suspension. Corey Perry is seen pulling hard on the referee's arm in a violent way. Thing is, you can't push or pull a referee in any way, especially when he's trying to calm you down. The official rules state

40.1Game Misconduct - Any player or goalkeeper who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an official, in any manner attempts to injure an official, physically demeans, or deliberately applies physical force to an Official solely for the purpose of getting free of such an Official during or immediately following an altercation shall receive a game misconduct penalty.

Many commentators discussed the issue online during the day. It's pretty clear Perry was just trying to untangle himself from the referee's grip, but there are still arguments against him.

So far, we haven't heard about it from the league, but we could be surprised. Ryan Getzlaf was fined 10,000$ for a homophobic slur just yesterday, so superstars are not untouchable.
