Potential destination for Jimmy Howard?

According to Edmonton Journal's Jim Matheson, the Detroit Red Wings would let Jimmy Howard and his $5.3 Million/year contract fly... but not to Vegas.

The Wings' netminder is posting incredible numbers this season but are they good enough for the upper management to keep him instead of Mrazek? Probably not. A possible destination for Howard could very well be the Winnipeg Jets, according to Matheson.

The Manitobian formation had high hopes in Connor Hellebuyck who's been disappointing so far, to say the least. The Jets masked man is boasting a .907% save percentage and a 2.74 Goal Against Average, good enough for a 10-10-1 record.

"Young Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck doesn’t look like a 60-game NHL starter yet.[...] The best scenario would be to trade for a veteran [like] Jimmy Howard just before the expansion draft. Get an established goalie with only a few years left on the deal, and let Hellebucyk back up and play 30 games." As per Jim Matheson.
