The Detroit Red Wings welcomed back forward Jakub Vrana to practice last week for the first time since he entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program on October 19. The issue for Vrana's having entered the program remains private, as explained by the man himself following practice.

And for fans wondering when they'll be able to see him suit up, they may not need to wait terribly long. According to Red Wings beat writer Ansar Khan of MLive, a conditioning stint with the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins is a possibility.

He wrote on Twitter earlier today:

"#RedWings Lalonde said Husso starts tomorrow vs. Tampa Bay. Not decision yet on Friday’s starter at Ottawa. Vrana pushed hard in today’s optional practice, won’t play tomorrow. Conditioning stint with #griffinshockey a possibility."

Despite having missed the first 3/4 of the 2021-22 NHL season after recovering from surgery thanks to an injury suffered in training camp, Vrana still demonstrated a flair for scoring goals, tallying 13 goals with six assists in the 26 games he appeared in. He also tallied once in the two games this season he's played in, ripping a shot past New Jersey Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek on October 15 in New Jersey.
