Potential trade rebuffed by Dylan Larkin.

Maybe Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin doesn't want out as badly as he portrayed earlier this summer.

Larkin shocked the Red Wings and their fans at the end of the 2025-26 regular season when he went forward with the decision to demand a trade after playing just 3 of the 8 seasons on the long-term deal he signed with the organization. It was an unpopular decision within the fan base to begin with, but when news leaked that Larkin was unwilling to expand his list beyond 3 teams, the Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, and Minnesota Wild, the fan base turned against him rather quickly.

Now come reports of teams around the league showing interest in Larkin, only to be rebuffed by Larkin himself showing no interest in being move. The latest comes courtesy of Flyers beat reporter Kevin Kurz who revealed this past week that the Flyers reached out to the Red Wings but never even had a chance to begin discussions in earnest.

The Flyers checked in on Larkin after his trade request became public, but were told they weren’t on his list of acceptable destinations...

That will make an already bitter pill even more difficult to swallow for the Red Wings fan base, and with so little time remaining before the season you have to wonder if Larkin isn't putting himself in a situation where he will begin another season on the very same Red Wings team he demanded to move on from.

Even worse for Larkin, there's no telling how fans will respond to him returning to the Red Wings, if he does indeed start the season in Detroit, after everything that has transpired over the summer.
