The Preds lose Tolvanen for nothing.

In my waiver wire report on Sunday I shared my belief that there was a realistic chance we could see former Nashville Predators first round draft pick Eeli Tolvanen get claimed, and that is exactly what has happened.

The Predators took a risk and it has not paid off, with National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston reporting that Tolvanen has been claimed by a rival team in the Western Conference, the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken were not particularly high on the waiver priority list however, which means a number of NHL teams elected to pass on the chance to claim Tolvanen on waivers.

The former first round pick (30th overall) at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft will now get a chance at a fresh start on a new team at 23 years old, and that no doubt feels like a big win with a lot of potential upside for the Kraken should they prove capable of helping Tolvanen in regaining his form.
