In case you missed it last night, projected #1 pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft Alexis Lafrenière was ejected from his team’s game last night after taking an “abuse of an official” penalty.

While the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) has yet to suspend Lafrenière for the infraction, abuse of an official carries an automatic suspension.

Check it out:

Stay tuned for an official announcement either from the Q or from Lafrenière’s Rimouski Oceanic concerning a suspension. The thing is… we don’t have great video on what exactly transpired, just a grainy QMJHL stream.

Check it out:

Lafrenière is #11 in blue and more or less gets smothered by the linesman when he comes in to his teammate’s defence. It’s impossible to see what transpired in this scrum, but maybe he inadvertently threw a punch at the linesman? Maybe some words were exchanged? Again, stay tuned for an official explanation.

In any case, Lafrenière has been an absolute freak of nature for Rimouski this season, scoring an astounding 15 goals and 51 points in just 23 games. Are you KIDDING me!?!

This kid is an absolute stud and is almost guaranteed to be a star in the NHL as early as next season, just check out these highlights:

Yeah... this kid is going to be SICK. If nothing else, he should put on one Hell of a show at this winter's 2020 World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic.

Again, standby for an official suspension announcement either from the QMJHL or from Rimouski.
