Projected salary cap for 2024-25 sees larger increase, but still too little for many teams!
However, Gary Bettman warns that it’s a “very preliminary” estimate

On Wednesday, there was a Board of Governors meeting in the NHL, and commissioner Gary Bettman was available for questions and statements afterwards. This is when he made the “very preliminary” estimate for cap next year, saying the salary cap could be $87-$88M for the 2024-25 season. However, he did stress it is very preliminary, per insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
We are about to kick off the 2023-24 season with an $83.5 million salary cap. It would be a more significant jump than we’ve seen in the past seasons, as the salary-cap limits were no higher than $82.5 million and no lower than $61 million just a year ago.
It would therefore be a much larger increase than what fans have recently seen, though many expect Bettman to shut down his estimate during the campaign.
We’ll have to stay tuned until the last minute to see if the 2024-25 cap space will be as generous…
