Some people are born to attract trouble. Whether it's Evander Kane flashing his money or Patrick Kane with troublesome sexual stories, there's always THAT guy in a team's environment.
The Montreal Canadiens are no different on that front. Prospect Magnus Nygren was drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 derby and showed some promising skills and energy. He signed a contract so he could play with the AHL team, the Hamilton Bulldogs. Twice, he started the season there only to move back to Sweden because he didn't like it or was injured.
Anyhow, he's actually playing for the Farjestads BK Karlstad and the team is already excluded from the playoffs. He went on a rampage last weekend, slurring racist terms at immigrants very publicly. You can see the video here, although it's in Swedish (we think, at least). Reportedly, he used the n-word a lot and even fought for a brief period of time!
Following the incident, he had to explain his actions in a official team video, in which he speaks with the team president. He apologized profusely, but it was maybe too little to late. You can watch the video here. You don't need to speak Swedish to understand the non-verbal message behind this public announcement!
Nygren is set to renew his contract with the Canadiens and the Swedish Karlstad this summer. Don't hold your breath too much, you might never see the guy in the NHL ever following this disgusting incident!
