The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) open up their season one month today and when they do so, they'll have two brand new teams hitting the ice.

PWHL Vancouver and PWHL Seattle are both joining the league this upcoming season, and just like the league's other six teams they'll forgo a moniker for their debut season. Fans will have to wait an entire season to learn what these new teams will be called but today fans did get a sneak preview of their jerseys for the upcoming season.

The jersey's colour palette was inspired by Vancouver's natural surroundings, and features pacific blue and cream with an earthy bronze accent.

“I feel so excited that fans are finally getting to see our jerseys for the first time,” said PWHL Vancouver forward Sarah Nurse in a statement. “It truly feels surreal to think that in a month, I’ll be wearing that in a game for the first time. I already feel like we have such a strong fan base in Vancouver and can’t wait to compete on the ice in front of all of them on opening night!”

These are fine jerseys... there's nothing particularly wrong with them.

But... well... they're just underwhelming.

Maybe it's the lack of a team name that's bugging me? I'm also a believer that in order for this league to be successful long-term, they need to partner with the NHL. If I were starting a women's team in Vancouver I'd be looking to partner with the Vancouver Canucks, whether officially or otherwise, as much as possible. The colors blue, cream and bronze are fine... but they don't really scream "Vancouver" to me. You know what does though? Blue, green and white.

Thoughts?
