R.J. Umburger sends message to Flyers fans on his way out.
A failed second stay in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Flyers made a big move on Thursday when they made the decision to buyout the remainder of veteran forward R.J. Umberger's contract as many suspected they would.
It was undoubtedly the right move for the Flyers who simply could not justify maintaining the massive $4.6 million dollar cap hit on their books given Umberger's extremely limited production this past season.
For Umberger it would be easy to be bitter, he was widely derided by fans and pundits alike during his second tenure with the Flyers and the constant comparisons to the player he was trade for, former Flyer Scott Hartnell, must have worn on him. He didn't take that road, and instead released the following statement on social media thanks both the organization and the fans showing great class:
