Radio host threatens to “obliterate” the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning have made an enemy.

The Tampa Bay Lightning may have just made themselves a new enemy.

This week, it was announced that the Lightning had come to terms with the Cox Media Group on a multi-year partnership that would see them moving over to the FM airwaves with 102.5 The Bone as their flagship station. This is a fairly typical type of deal for a team in the National Hockey League, but it seems that a rumor about their previous partners has now caused the ruffling of more than a few feathers.

During a recent segment on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, radio host Clay Travis unloaded on the Lightning for leaving their previous station, NewsRadio WFLA. The issue it appears is that, according to Travis, there is a belief that the Lightning made the decision to move from the AM station to the FM station due to "covid misinformation."

At the time of this writing there has been no indication that the Lightning made the switch for this reason, but that did nothing to stop the conservative radio host from unloading on the Lightning over the perceived slight.

"If this has really happened, this is a goldmine for us,” said Travis as per Awful Announcing. “A Florida based team is not going to be on a radio station that we’re on because they’re accusing us of COVID misinformation?”

Regardless of whether or not there is any truth to the rumor, it seems that Travis has already made up his mind. When discussing the topic on his show he openly vowed to launch a personal crusade against the Tampa Bay Lightning and vowed to do so publicly.

"We are going to absolutely obliterate this team. They have no idea, I hope that we have some Tampa Bay Lightning executives listening right now. I want to let you know, prepare…we are about to unleash holy hell on you, Tampa Bay Lightning, and you have no idea what you’re in for. So if you’re listening to us on WFLA in Tampa and you have got friends who work with the Tampa Bay Lightning, you better tell them that they have no idea about the Mack Truck that is about to flatten their team…we are going to wreck you in a way unlike you have ever been publicly wrecked in your lives."

We have no idea what shape or form this holy crusade from Travis will take, but when it happens we will be sure to keep you informed.
