Radko Gudas has been traded

This just in, the Anaheim Ducks have traded captain Radko Gudas to the Florida Panthers in exchange for AJ Greer.

Both Gudas and Greer and pending unrestricted free agent, so this is really a swap of two players who may still hit the open market on July 1st. However, it's believed that a change of scenery, or in Gudas' case a return to familiar scenery, may convince these players to re-up before the opening of the free agent period on July 1st.

“Radko Gudas captained our club with heart and soul over the last two seasons while making a great impact in our community,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek in a prepared statement. We offer our thanks and wish him great success going forward. We hope to sign A.J. to a contract and look forward to what he can bring to our club." 

Gudas, of course was a big part of the Panthers' defensive corps from 2020 - 2023 and few players have ever embodied the identity of the Panthers quite like Gudas. While his first stint with the organization lasted only three seasons, the hard-hitting Czech defenseman quickly became one of the emotional leaders of the locker room and a fan favorite thanks to his fearless style of play. Now, after spending the past three seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, Gudas is heading back to South Florida in what feels like a reunion that has been years in the making. The Panthers know exactly what they're getting: toughness, leadership, playoff experience, and a player who never hesitates to put his body on the line for his teammates.

Gudas' NHL journey has never been about flashy offensive numbers.
