Well this is certainly a twist that fans in Toronto likely never saw coming.

On Thursday, National Hockey League insider Kevin Weekes reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs were among the teams with reported interest in Anaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas. The news came as a massive surprise if only due to the recent checkered history between Gudas and the Maple Leafs organization.

Gudas himself was asked about this rather spicy rumor during a recent interview and Gudas admitted that he would indeed consider the idea if it became an option.

"I am open to anything," admitted Gudas.

Fans will of course remember that Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had his season cut short by a blatant knee on knee hit that came from the aforementioned Gudas this past season, an injury that Matthews likely still isn't very happy about to this day.

The incident would result in a significant suspension for Gudas, who missed 5 games after the decision came down from NHL Player Safety, and it also resulted in retaliation on the part of the Leafs later in the season. It would be Max Domi who would deliver a dose of revenge, with many feeling that Gudas showed honor by taking his lumps and making no real attempt to defend himself against the onslaught from Domi.

While there are some rather obvious obstacles that would have to be overcome before this move could become a reality, it does sound like there is a real possibility that Radko Gudas could become a Toronto Maple Leaf.
