The New York Rangers might be struggling too much as the moment to conceive Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane that they can have a long and successful playoff run. On top of that, Kane might be considering staying in Chicago more than anything else, and so the Rangers believed to be targeting a new forward on the trade market.

Earlier this month, Vancouver Canucks right winger Brock Boeser’s representatives received permission to talk to other teams about a possible trade. According to insider Frank Seravalli, his camp could hear from clubs like the Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and the Rangers.

Earlier this week, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported how the Canucks are fine with not getting much of a trade return for Boeser.

New York has been looking for a scoring winger, and Boeser could be a more affordable option than Kane. However, the competition out there might be intense to acquire Boeser’s services as the Islanders could be going hard at landing the forward. This past summer, Isles GM Lou Lamoriello missed out on both Johnny Gaudreau and Nazem Kadri during free-agency, and was even rumoured to have missed the opportunity to trade for Boeser’s teammate J.T. Miller before he signed a new contract with Vancouver.

There is a clear need for a reliable scoring right winger in New York this season and the Rangers could go after Boeser in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned.
