“Goalie played shit game again. I feel so bad and play so bad. I'm ashamed.” - Igor Shesterkin
In case you missed it last night, the New York Rangers dropped a 5-3 decision to the New Jersey Devils and... well... they didn't look good in doing so.
It's not exactly a secret that reigning Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin has had a tough go of things lately, but frankly I was shocked when I heard mocking "IGOR! IGOR!" chants at Madison Square Garden after the Russian netminder let in his fourth goal of the game:
Yikes... I'm willing to bet that the majority of those cheers came from cheeky Devils fans though.
That's rough, but not nearly as rough as the stone cold analysis that Shesterkin gave himself following the game.
Check it out:
"Goalie played shit game again. I feel so bad and play so bad. I'm ashamed. Every goal is easy play for me. I have to stop those. If our team wants to win the game, I have to play better."
Igor Shesterkin
Ouch... those sound like the words of a broken man. Hopefully he can find his mojo again because as Igor goes, so too do the Rangers.
