The New York Rangers will be without one of their forwards presumably until well after the regular season starts.

On Monday the Rangers announced that 25-year-old winger Jesper Fast had undergone a underwent a successful labral repair of his left hip, and although that is good news, his recovery time is not.

According to the Rangers Fast will now need a whopping five months to recover from the injury, and one has to wonder if getting into game shape could take even longer than that.

The five month time span would push Fast's return to somewhere in November, a timeline that would have him missing the start of the 2017-2018 campaign.
