The Rangers have started selling off their players.
It sounds like the New York Rangers are on the verge of making the first trade of what is expected to be quite the sell off ahead of the National Hockey League's trade deadlines.
Multiple reports are coming out suggesting that Rangers defenseman Carson Soucy is on the verge of being moved, with multiple sources confirming that the New York Islanders will be the destination in this trade deal. Rangers reporter Vince Z. Mercogliano appears to have been the first to break the story.
Mercogliano is however not the only Rangers reporter currently reporting this news, with Mollie Walker of the New York Post echoing that report and confirming that it sounds like Soucy is going to Long Island.
The 31 year old Soucy has only spent parts of two seasons with the New York Rangers after being dealt there by the Vancouver Canucks during the 2024-25 season.
Soucy has appeared in 46 games for the Rangers this season and has 3 goals and 5 assists for a total of 8 points. Soucy has a plus minus rating of +4 on the season which is notable when you consider that the Rangers have a -23 goal differential on the season.
Soucy will be held out of the lineup tonight for trade related reasons.
No word yet on a return.
