Rangers Owner James Dolan Under Fire Over Cruel Treatment Of Employees.

This is just messed up.

New York Rangers owner James Dolan has been embroiled in a rather ugly scandal, one in which employees are making claims about some rather cruel treatment.

Fresh off the heels of an NBA Championship win for the New York Knicks, who are also owned by Dolan, employees of Madison Square Garden received an email that suggested they would also be receiving their very own championship ring. Employees were, understandably, thrilled at the prospect but the entire thing was a setup.

According to a recent report, employees who were taken in by the email received a rather cruel reward instead of a championship ring.

"Congratulations, your Employee Championship Ring is here," the email read as per The Athletic.

"(Employee name), this one is on the house. MSG is issuing a complimentary employee championship ring. The same jeweler, the same craftsmanship, personalized with your name. No cost to you.

"There are two designs to choose from: Championship Gold and Garden Classic. Reserve the one you want below."

Instead of being a reward for their hard work the email was actually the latest example of Dolan's cybersecurity concerns. Employees who clicked the link to choose their ring were instead forced to attend mandatory cybersecurity training, one of the cruelest twists I can imagine for someone who works in the world of sports.

Dolan has faced plenty of backlash before for the way he runs and operates his sports teams in the past, but this incident in particular seems to have really rubbed people the wrong way and I can certainly understand why.
