New York Rangers' GM pleased with newest acquisition.
New York Rangers's general manager, Jeff Gorton believes that Jarret Stoll simply made a mistake and will be able to bring depth to the center position. Gorton admitted to the New York Post that he talked extensively with Stoll about the incident.
“We spent a lot of time talking to him, and going through his incident and moving forward. We were all very impressed with how he handled it and conducted himself and wanted to address it and move on. We talked to a lot of people that have played with him in the league and before he got to the league; we’ve talked to trainers and people that have dealt with him — it all came out the same, as a real character guy that made a mistake. We all want to move forward.”
Jarret Stoll, 33 years old, was arrested and charged in April with possession of cocaine and MDNA drug during a pool party in Las Vegas.
Since the signing, Stoll has also reinstated the confidence that the arrest was an isolated incident.
“People around me know what kind of person I am. For the outside world to think what they think, it really doesn’t have an impact on myself or the way I play hockey. That’s not who I am, that’s not the person I was brought up to be, and anyone important in my life knows that.”
The Rangers signed another player involved in a case of cocaine possession last summer when they inked forward Ryan malone, who only played 6 games because he could not follow coach's Alain Vigneault high tempo game.
