A terrible break for the Rangers early in the season.

It would seem that the Rangers 4-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres this past Thursday, the Rangers first win of the regular season, has come at a terrible price for the Blue Shirts. On Saturday, the Rangers officially confirmed that 32 year old centerman Vincent Trocheck would be out for some time with the team officially listing Trocheck as week to week with a lower body injury.

Trocheck appeared to suffer the injury during the second period of the Rangers second game of the season, but it was unclear what exactly led to the injury. Trocheck would come off the ice a little over midway through the second period and would not return to the ice at any point after that.

Trocheck had previously never missed a game with the Rangers, appearing in 2 back to back full 82 game regular seasons in his first and second seasons with the team, but there will be no avoiding missed games this time around.

In his first 164 games with the Rangers, Trocheck amassed 51 goals and 85 assists for a total of 136 points and has consistently been one of the Rangers most important offensive contributors. He had a single assist in his first two games this season before the injury.

Stay tuned for more updates on this unfortunate and developing story.
