The New York Rangers have concluded an important piece of work late into the summer months.

On Sunday, the Rangers announced that they had come to terms on new deal with goaltender Dylan Garand. Garand, who was drafted in the 4th round )103rd overall) by the Rangers at the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft, has spent the last several seasons playing in the American Hockey League. Garand has spent the time under the Rangers umbrella with the Hartford Wolf Pack, and is coming off of a career best season.

Over his two previous seasons with the Wolf Pack, Garand posted a 3.01 and 3.03 goals against average respectively, and a save percentage of .894 and .898 respectively, but improved considerably on those numbers in his most recent campaign. This season Garand appeared in 39 games and finished with a 2.73 goals against average and a .913 save percentage, earning himself a new deal in the process.

Although the Rangers did not disclose the financial terms of this deal, Peter Baugh reports that this contract will come in at the league minimum salary and is a two-way deal for Garand.

Garand has built up a wealth of experience at the AHL level over his relatively short career with an overall record of 49-42-16 over his time with the Wolf Pack, as well as an additional 17 games in the Calder Cup playoffs.

No doubt both the Rangers and Garand himself are hoping to see the relatively young goaltender, just 23 years old, take yet another step in the right direction during this upcoming season.
