Before last night, the Calgary Flames hadn’t won a game in Anaheim since January 19th, 2004. But now… that’s ancient history. The Flames waltzed into the Honda Center in Anaheim and trounced the Anaheim Ducks 2-0.
Backed by a stellar 43 save shutout performance from new goaltender Mike Smith, the Flames were able to get past the Ducks for the first time in over a decade. Forwards Sean Monahan and Mikael Backlund put home the goals for the Flames and with Smith turning into a brick wall, that’s all the visitors needed.
