The Detroit Red Wings are back in action tonight in the Canadian capital city of Ottawa, taking on the Senators in what will be two straight games on consecutive nights against their Atlantic Division rival. Detroit is coming off a 3-0 shutout loss at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning, a game they dominated and yet were unable to solve goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.
The other set of bad news from Saturday night's game is that forward Michael Rasmussen was injured when he took a slap shot from Lightning defenseman Zach Bogosian right off the kneecap; he's been listed by the Red Wings as being out "indefinitely".
The good news is that an important forward will be making his return to the lineup tonight from injury. Sophomore forward Lucas Raymond, who was injured earlier this month after a collision in practice with teammate Ben Chiarot, will be back in action tonight.
Meanwhile, it will be former Senators goaltender Magnus Hellberg in between the pipes for the Red Wings tonight. As you may remember, Hellberg has bounced around this season, having originally started the year with the Seattle Kraken. He would be waived and claimed by Ottawa, only to once again be waived and subsequently re-acquired by the Kraken. After being waived yet again, he would be taken by the Red Wings for his second tour of duty with the team.
Tonight's game will begin at 7:00 PM EST.
